So I have a 2000 gsxr 600.

Does anybody know if the Pilot Screw in the carb is responsible for more air input or fuel input? My bike is running a bit lean and I want to adjust it a bit.

Yes I have count the number of turns to be seated.

cheers

How do you know your bike is running lean?

That screw only adjusts your mixture at idle...it has nothing to do with your fuel ratio when you're actually moving.

That screw should be adjusted out until your bike idles cleanly and that's it.

-rough idle at startup
-have to use the choke longer than usual, ie 5mins or more
-dry oxidized spark plugs
-throttle lag from 1/4 throttle to full throttle

etc etc

That's not all idle nmixture then.

is mainjet territory.

If this is just happening now after the winter storage run acouple of tanks of fuel through it and maybe something like Seafoam ( I know "snake oil" but it workes for me) .

If you still have problems heres a site that might help. http://www.factorypro.com/tech/carbtune,CV,high_rpm_engines.html

Sorry I meant 0-1/4 throttle. I've been talking too much about this crap. I'm getting a headache now Smile. But I have it back in one place and intend to have it all finished by Saturday.

I still need to fix a leak in my cover gasket.

Well, normally the fuel screw will richen the mixture the further out you have it. Sometimes (like on a CRF50) it will be an air screw which will lean it out. Just mess with it until your idle stabilizes. You can't really mess much up with that screw. Just remember where you started from.

that screw just adjusts air. Anywyays, if you bike was running fine before you parked it and there were no issues... then you dont adjust shit.. You will just make things worse.

Take the carbs off the bike... and blow the shit out of your jets, the ports all throughout the carb and all over the bike...

Dont do sea foam or carb clean.. it will fix 20% of your problem which is gummed up carburator bowl and jets.

I bet it runs nice from like 3000-9000 rpm but when u come to a stop sign i stalls?

Right?

You got shit all in ur jets..

Clean it with a can of carb clean, blow it out with compressed air.. re assemble and watch it idle beautifully.
